An established industry player is seeking a dedicated School Based Youth Counselor/Youth Development Specialist to provide therapeutic services to children and families within schools. PositionSummary
School Based Youth Counselor/Youth Development Specialist provides therapeutic services to children, adolescents, and families in schools within Hunterdon County. Services provided consist of early identification, prevention, and intervention as well as linkages to existing services through group supportive counseling, education, presentations, and collaboration with school personnel and community providers.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Supports students with job readiness skills, resume writing, job interview etiquette, etc.
2. Forging partnerships with community partners and securing resources that are relevant and appropriate to meet the needs of the students and families that the SBYSP serves.
3. Completes all School Based documentation
4. Interacts and collaborates with school personnel, HMC/HBH departments, community providers and families
5. Maintains Professional Development.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or Psychology or other mental health related field.
Minimum Years of Experience (Amount, Type and Variation):
Required:
3 years of full-time experience with children and adolescents in a school or mental health setting as a youth service worker.
Preferred:
3-5 years of experience with children and adolescents in a school or mental health setting as a youth service worker.
License, Registry or Certification :
Required:
Valid driver’s license must pass criminal background check and fingerprinting.
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities :
Required:
Crisis intervention skills, clinical training and understanding of systems. Knowledge of schools and mental health facilities. Positive interpersonal skills, good communication and public speaking skills.
