Overview | Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution in Newark, New Jersey, is seeking a Youth Development Specialist for the Rutgers Future Scholars Newark program. The program serves 250 rising 8th-12th grade students within the Center for PreCollege Programs (CPP). Reporting to and under the supervision of the Program Manager, the responsibilities include designing and facilitating student learning opportunities, maintaining activity logs, preparing recruitment presentations, and assisting in report preparation. This position is contingent upon grant funding continuation. |

Minimum Education and Experience: Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Up to two years of relevant experience in an administrative role, along with good communication, interpersonal skills, and computer literacy, are required.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of social and emotional competencies; experience conducting small group or individual sessions with adolescents; working with urban or first-generation students; facilitating college readiness or social-emotional learning workshops; background in youth development, social work, psychology, urban education, or sociology.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Bachelor's degree or equivalent; up to two years relevant experience; strong communication and interpersonal skills; computer literacy.
Equipment Utilized: General office equipment.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: Occasional lifting of supplies up to 20 lbs; access to workspace with a laptop and internet; reliable transportation to sites.
