School Based Technology Support Specialist
LOCATION:

Non-Exempt
TERMS:
187-Day appointment compensated in accordance with the Board approved salary schedule
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama Statutes and State Board of Education regulations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Experience using technology to enhance teaching and learning
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of computer applications and hardware with a willingness to learn unfamiliar applications and hardware
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides first-level technical support by troubleshooting and resolving issues with classroom technology, including teacher and student devices, Chromebooks and copiers.
- Models and promotes effective, appropriate, and ethical use of technology for both staff and students in alignment with district expectations.
- Assists the Technology Department with onboarding and training of new staff, including setup and best practices for network access, email accounts, and instructional technology tools.
- Adheres to district network security guidelines; communicates security protocols to staff and promptly reports any concerns or breaches to the Network Specialist.
- Attends required district technology meetings and professional development sessions for school-based technology personnel.
- Serves as a liaison between the school and the Technology Department, facilitating communication and support for instructional and operational technology needs.
- Performs additional technology-related duties as assigned by the principal and the Technology Director or designee.
- Performs basic repairs and maintenance on student and staff devices, including Chromebooks, following district procedures.
- Manages the inventory, distribution, and collection of Chromebooks and related equipment, ensuring accurate device assignment and tracking.
- Inspects devices at issuance and return, documenting conditions and identifying damages, missing components, or misuse.
- Maintains detailed and accurate records of device damage, loss, and repair history using the district’s tracking system.
- Coordinates repair processes, including preparing devices for service, submitting work orders, and tracking repair status.
- Communicates with students, staff, and administration regarding device care, damage reports, and applicable fees or replacement procedures.
- Conducts periodic audits of device inventory and reports discrepancies, trends in damage, and loss to administration and the Technology Department.
- Assists with large-scale device deployment and collection processes at the beginning and end of the school year.
- Maintains an organized, secure storage area for devices and technology equipment.
- Provides basic guidance and support to students and staff on proper device care and usage to minimize damage and extend device lifespan.
- Assists with the distribution, collection, and management of Yondr pouches, including tracking assignments and monitoring proper use
EVALUATION:
Job performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the State Department of Education and/or Pike Road Board of Education policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
