Job summary

Qualifications

• Performs professional support assisting classroom teachers in their absence.
• Maintains various records and files as necessary.
• Works with students to reinforce material introduced by the teacher.
• Assists with a variety of assignments and tasks for students.

Responsibilities

• Provides continuity in day-to-day responsibilities during the absence of the regular employee.
• Enforces discipline and safety rules; assists with student supervision.
• Notifies teachers of dates for in-school suspension and returns completed work.
• Performs office and clerical tasks for classroom teachers and school staff.
• Assists with large group activities.
• Guides independent students and other work assigned by the teacher.
• Assists with lunch, snack, clean-up, bathroom, clothing and wash-up routines.
• Escorts students to classes and assists during meals.
• May perform duties of paraprofessionals as assigned.
