Job summary

Educational Service District 123 is seeking a Student Assistance Professional to serve students at Kiona-Benton City High School. The role implements comprehensive student assistance programs addressing substance abuse issues, including screenings and referrals for students and families.

The position involves collaborating with school staff, providing crisis intervention, and maintaining records to support program evaluation and compliance with funding requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or credential in substance abuse or related field with plan to obtain prevention credential within one year of hire
• SUDP credential or eligibility in process for credential (SUDPT)
• ESA school counselor, certified school psychologist, or school social worker with substance abuse education credits
• DSHS qualified mental health counselor or equivalent as alternative credentials

Responsibilities

• Provides early alcohol/drug and violence prevention and intervention services to students and families, including screenings and referrals
• Assists in referrals to treatment and supports students returning to school from treatment
• Serves on the Student Assistance Team and helps develop an internal identification/intervention/referral process
• Facilitates youth prevention clubs and recovery support groups and offers individual support
