Job summary

Educational Service District 123 seeks a Student Assistance Professional to implement comprehensive prevention and recovery programs for students at Kiona-Benton City High School. They will screen for substance use issues, provide counseling, and coordinate referrals to treatment.

The role involves collaborating with school staff, leading prevention groups, and delivering trainings on alcohol and other drug abuse. Strong case management and confidentiality knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a social services field or related area, with ability to obtain credentials within one year
• SUDP credential or equivalent process may be considered
• ESA school counselor/psychologist/social worker credentials or related credentialing are acceptable
• AA/AS degree with at least 1 year direct service with at-risk youth; or equivalent work experience

Responsibilities

• Provide early alcohol/drug and violence prevention and intervention services to students and families.
• Assist with referrals to treatment and support students returning to school from treatment or suspensions.
• Participate in Student Assistance Team meetings and support the identification, intervention, and referral process.
• Lead/coordinate school-based groups on prevention and recovery; provide individual support.
• Deliver staff development on alcohol/drug abuse prevention, intervention, and recovery programming.
• Develop youth prevention/empowerment clubs focused on substance abuse and violence prevention.
• Maintain records, enter data for evaluation, and prepare required reports.
