Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited college/university in an appropriate field.
• Maintain master’s certification as determined by the Alabama State Department of Education and ASHA.
• Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication.
• Meet suitability criteria for employment/certification under Alabama law.
• Ability to interpret assessment data and develop instructional strategies.
• Ability to use technology to communicate, manage data, and prepare reports.
• Ability to collaborate with administrators, teachers, and parents on IEPs.
• Punctuality and regular attendance; comply with policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Organize and conduct language and speech screenings in the schools.
• Evaluate and diagnose language/speech/hearing disorders using standardized tests.
• Enroll and initiate therapy for identified students.
• Collaborate with teachers to schedule therapy within appropriate time frames.
• Provide individual or group therapy and monitor progress.
• Document progress and communicate with families and school staff.
• Participate in IEP development, implementation, and meetings.
• Refer students to appropriate school personnel or community agencies as needed.
