Job summary

Tuscaloosa City Schools is seeking a Speech/Language Pathologist to provide services to students with language, speech or hearing disorders and to collaborate with teachers and parents on IEP goals.

The role includes conducting language and hearing screenings, diagnosing and providing individual or group therapy, and coordinating with the Language, Speech and Hearing Services Program within Pre-K and Special Education.

Qualifications

• Interprets assessment data to group students and develop instructional strategies.
• Communicates effectively with students, parents, and staff to support IEP goals.
• Provides clear oral and written communication for IEP documentation and progress reporting.
• Performs language and hearing screenings in schools to identify needs.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and conducts language and speech screenings in the schools.
• Organizes and conducts hearing screenings in the schools.
• Evaluates and diagnoses children with speech and language disorders through standardized tests.
• Provides individual and/or group therapy for children with language, speech, or hearing disorders.
• Maintains appropriate records regarding children’s progress in therapy.
