Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates support for the school system and its goals.
  • Resources staff in developing a balanced oral communication program.
  • Provides therapy to meet individual communication needs.
  • Guides teachers in observing and referring speech and language impairments.
  • Performs comprehensive assessment and diagnosis of speech and language issues.
  • Refers individuals to external agencies when appropriate.
  • Implements individualized therapy programs for students.
  • Collaborates with teachers to integrate therapy into daily activities.
  • Provides information and consultation to parents and families.
  • Offers in-service education and acts as a consultant on communication topics.
  • Keeps thorough records for students receiving services.
  • Uses SETS to maintain referred and eligible student information.
  • Works with teams to identify and plan IEPs for communication needs.
  • Implements assistive technology devices/plans.
  • Provides social skills training for students.
  • Plans with teachers on communication problem areas.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with staff.
  • Complies with regulations regarding records and services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
