Job summary

Boston Public Schools seeks a highly qualified School Based Social Worker to support behavioral health services, trauma response, and resilience-building across district schools.

In partnership with the District Social Worker and Program Director of Social Work, you will provide counseling, crisis intervention, and data-driven MTSS planning to advance student outcomes and equity in learning and well‑being.

Qualifications

• Master of Social Work (MSW) or Master of Mental Health Counseling.
• MA DESE School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor License (All Levels).
• Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW), LICSW or LMHC by hire or must obtain LCSW by last day of school.
• Minimum of 3 years of effective professional experience in an urban setting similar to Boston Public Schools.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and support Student Success Team activities and school-based social work services.
• Provide individual and group counseling; crisis intervention and risk assessments.
• Manage a caseload, coordinate referrals to external agencies and programs.
• Collaborate with students, families, school leaders and external partners to support MTSS implementation.

Education

Master of Social Work (MSW) or Master of Mental Health Counseling

MA DESE School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor License (All Levels)

Licensed Clinical/Licensed Social Worker (LCSW/LICSW/LMHC)

3 years of urban school social work experience
