Qualifications

  • Current RBT credential or eligibility to obtain within the district timeframe.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Successful completion of required background checks and employment screenings.
  • Ability to work effectively with children and adolescents with diverse learning, behavioral, developmental, and communication needs.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sound professional judgment.
  • Ability to follow individualized student plans and implement behavioral and instructional strategies consistently.
  • Strong communication, organization, patience, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and/or small-group behavioral and instructional support to students.
  • Implement individualized behavioral and educational strategies identified within student support plans, IEPs, Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and classroom programming.
  • Support students in developing skills related to communication, social interaction, self-regulation, emotional regulation, classroom participation, functional independence, academic engagement, daily living skills, and appropriate replacement behaviors.
  • Collect accurate and objective data related to student behavior, skill acquisition, academic engagement, and progress.
  • Implement evidence-based behavioral strategies, including prompting, reinforcement, modeling, redirection, visual supports, and other approved interventions.
  • Assist students in generalizing skills across different environments, activities, staff members, and social situations.
  • Promote student independence and gradually reduce unnecessary adult prompting when appropriate.
  • Support students during transitions between classrooms, activities, and school environments.
  • Provide support during less-structured settings such as arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, assemblies, field trips, and school-wide activities.
  • Respond appropriately to challenging or unsafe behaviors according to established school procedures and student-specific support plans.
  • Follow district-approved procedures for behavioral support, crisis prevention, safety, and emergency situations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student services, observations, data, and progress.
  • Communicate relevant student observations, concerns, and progress to appropriate members of the educational team.
  • Participate in team meetings, staff trainings, professional development, and school activities as assigned.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with students and families.
  • Protect the confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with FERPA and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Support classroom routines and instructional activities as appropriate.
  • Assist with implementation of accommodations, modifications, and individualized supports identified by the educational team.
  • Encourage student participation in the least restrictive and most inclusive environment appropriate to the student’s needs.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the position and assigned by the school administrator.
