Job summary

ESS is hiring a Personal Care Assistant in West Mifflin, PA. The role supports one student with instructional and non-instructional activities under supervision of a certified professional.

The PCA assists with daily living activities and maintains a safe learning environment. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, and either 48 college credits or Para Ed Certification, with required state clearances and training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 48 college credits or Para Ed Certification required or obtained within one year of hire.
• Clearances required: Pennsylvania State Police, FBI Fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance, School Health Form, Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification, Act 126/Mandated Reporter training.

Responsibilities

• Assist with self-sufficiency training and maintenance of skills for a child with physical disabilities.
• Assist the student to participate to the maximum extent in the least restrictive environment.
• Support and educate the student in activities of daily living.
• Manage and adapt classroom environment to meet the student’s needs.
• Monitor health problems and psycho-social adjustment related to medical conditions.
• Assist teacher or student in arranging the classroom to meet needs.
• Attend training sessions, in-services, and meetings as requested.
• Demonstrate cooperation and flexibility in related duties.
• Adhere to ESS and school district policies and procedures.
