Job summary

Lake Orion Community Schools in Michigan seeks an experienced Occupational Therapist for a long-term substitute position. The role supports the district's OT program, partnering with teachers and families to enhance student participation and daily living skills.

Responsibilities include evaluating students, developing IEPs, coordinating therapy services, and documenting progress while staying current with laws and best practices. Starting September 2026, immediate start preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in related field.
• Valid state license as an Occupational Therapist and NBCOT certification.
• Experience in educational or pediatric settings preferred.
• ASD experience preferred; sensory integration expertise preferred.
• Knowledge of FERPA, section 504, and education laws.
• Strong communication and computer skills.
• Ability to determine occupational therapy evaluation and to select assessment tools.

Responsibilities

• Develops and coordinates the school district's occupational therapy program.
• Screens, evaluates, and monitors students for educational programs and therapy.
• Collaborates with staff to ensure understanding of student performance and outcomes.
• Evaluates and documents the student’s occupational profile and progress.
• Provides evidence-based therapeutic intervention to support participation.
• Assesses need for assistive technology and makes recommendations.
• Organizes and coordinates work and ongoing professional growth.
• Documents therapy services per district policies and laws.
• Plans, coordinates, and conducts continuing education with staff, parents, students.
• Keeps up with current developments in the educational field.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Director.
