Job summary

Lake Orion Community Schools seeks an Occupational Therapist for a long-term substitute role in Michigan. The OT will develop and monitor the district's OT program within the school setting, coordinate IEPs, and provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to support student participation in daily activities.

Qualifications include a state OT license, NBCOT certification, and experience in educational or pediatric settings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or University in related field.
  • Valid state license as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Initial certification by National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy.
  • Successful experience as an Occupational Therapist, preferably in an educational or pediatric setting.
  • ASD experience preferred
  • Sensory Integration expertise preferred
  • Knowledge and use of OT theories, models of practice, principles, and evidence-based practice.
  • Knowledge of human development across the life spans and integration with student’s development.
  • Knowledge of disabilities, social-cultural, and socioeconomic factors on student participation.
  • Knowledge of FERPA, Section 504, and other school-related laws.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in development of Individualized Education Programs; coordinates OT program within the district.
  • Screens, evaluates, and monitors students for educational programs and therapeutic intervention.
  • Collaborates with staff to understand student OT performance, strengths and needs.
  • Evaluates student ability and formulates occupational profile with written reports.
  • Provides targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate student participation.
  • Assesses need for assistive technology and makes recommendations.
  • Organizes and coordinates work; engages in self-evaluation for professional growth.
  • Documents OT services per district policies and laws; conducts continuing education with staff and students.
  • Remains current on developments in education through various sources.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director.
