Job summary

Cross Country Education is seeking a School-Based Orientation and Mobility Specialist in Ellicott City, MD for a local contract spanning 41 weeks. The role covers 40 hours per week across home, school, and community settings to help students ages 3-21 build confidence and independence.

You will conduct functional assessments, support IEP processes, and collaborate with families and educators to promote safe, independent travel and participation in educational activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• Valid COMS credential through ACVREP or equivalent.
• Experience with visually impaired students; knowledge of IDEA, IEPs and school-based services.

Responsibilities

• Provide orientation and mobility services to students ages 3-21 across home, school, and community.
• Conduct functional assessments and recommend access needs for mobility.
• Collaborate with educators, families and multidisciplinary teams; participate in IEP meetings.
