Job summary

Van Buren Intermediate School District is seeking an Occupational Therapist for Local Districts Hartford/Bangor to support students with special education needs in the school setting. You will evaluate students, participate in educational planning, and provide OT services per IEPs, collaborating with parents, staff, and agencies.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's in OT and Michigan licensure eligibility; prior experience with assistive technology and ASD is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy required.
• Michigan Registered Occupational Therapist or eligible for registration.
• Experience working with students needing assistive technology support and those with ASD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete a comprehensive evaluation of students in response to a special education referral.
• Participate in educational planning.
• Provide services to special education students as assigned on the IEP.
• Effectively communicate, consult, and team with parents, staff, agencies, and others.
• Perform appropriate action/report in response to referrals of special education students.
• Keep local schools informed of the status of referrals and services.
• Adhere to Van Buren ISD policies and procedures.
• Complete assigned responsibilities within agreed upon or established time lines.
• Perform additional tasks, responsibilities, and duties as assigned by the Special Education Supervisor.
• Valid driver's license required.

Education

Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy
