Job summary

Good Shepherd – Early Intervention Program (School-Based Health Wellness Centres) in Ontario is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to deliver primary health care across two high school sites. You will assess, diagnose, and treat, prescribe medications, and coordinate with families, school staff, and community providers.

The role requires a nursing degree with Extended Class registration, 2+ years' NP/EC experience, and strong collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing and registration in the Extended Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing.
• Minimum two years' experience as a Nurse Practitioner/RN (EC).
• Current CPR/First Aid certification.
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic and treatment skills.
• Experience providing primary health care and working collaboratively with physicians, specialists and community service providers.
• Experience working with culturally diverse populations, including newcomers to Canada.
• Commitment to harm reduction, health promotion and client‑centered care.
• Anti‑racist and anti‑oppressive practice.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with flexibility and adaptability.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Demonstrated commitment to Good Shepherd's mission and values.
• WHMIS training.
• Understanding of workplace health and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary health care services across two high school sites with in‑person care.
• Perform comprehensive health assessments, diagnose and treat illness and injury.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications and treatments.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and service utilization data.
• Collaborate with students, families, school staff, physicians and community providers.
• Connect clients to primary care, mental health and psychiatry services as needed.
• Support health education, counselling and wellness for individuals and groups.
• Engage in Health and Safety programs and comply with OHSA regulations.
