Job summary

Good Shepherd – Early Intervention Program (School-Based Health Wellness Centres) in Ontario is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to deliver primary health care across two high school sites. You will assess, diagnose, and treat, prescribe medications, and coordinate with families, school staff, and community providers.

The role requires a nursing degree with Extended Class registration, 2+ years' NP/EC experience, and strong collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing and registration in the Extended Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing.
• Minimum two years' experience as a Nurse Practitioner/RN (EC).
• Current CPR/First Aid certification.
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic and treatment skills.
• Experience providing primary health care and working collaboratively with physicians, specialists and community service providers.
• Experience working with culturally diverse populations, including newcomers to Canada.
• Commitment to harm reduction, health promotion and client‑centered care.
• Anti‑racist and anti‑oppressive practice.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with flexibility and adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary health care services across two high school sites with in‑person care.
• Perform comprehensive health assessments, diagnose and treat illness and injury.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications and treatments.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and service utilization data.
• Collaborate with students, families, school staff, physicians and community providers.
• Connect clients to primary care, mental health and psychiatry services as needed.
• Support health education, counselling and wellness for individuals and groups.
• Engage in Health and Safety programs and comply with OHSA regulations.

Rate of Pay: $59.07/hour - $71.16/hour (Starting salary will be determined by factors such as relevant experience, qualifications, internal equity, and market conditions)

How You Will Make An Impact

Accountable to the Director, Barrett Centre for Crisis Support, the Nurse Practitioner will provide primary health care services to individuals through two high school-based health and wellness clinic sites. Working within the full scope of Nurse Practitioner practice, the successful candidate will provide comprehensive and focused health assessments, diagnose and treat illness and injury, order and interpret diagnostic and laboratory tests, prescribe and administer medications and treatments, and provide health education, counselling and wellness support. The Nurse Practitioner will work collaboratively with students, families, school administrators and staff, Good Shepherd teams, physicians, specialists, hospitals and community service providers to support the health and well‑being of individuals. The role will also assist with connecting clients to primary care, mental health and psychiatry services and other appropriate community resources. The successful candidate will use a holistic, client-centered and harm reduction approach, with consideration for the psychological, social, cultural and environmental factors affecting each individual. They will demonstrate culturally competent, respectful and compassionate care and contribute to an integrated anti‑racism/anti‑oppression framework. The Nurse Practitioner will also maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, collect service utilization information, identify health needs and service trends, and provide consultation and support to school staff. The successful candidate will be responsible for participating in Good Shepherd's Health and Safety programs and working in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations.
