Job summary

Magellan Health is seeking a Military and Family Life Counselor - School to provide non-medical behavioral counseling to children of military families at DoD and community schools, based at Seymour Johnson AFB in North Carolina. Local candidates or those willing to relocate and who hold an independent license (LCSW, LMFT, LCMHC/LPC) are required.

The role includes counseling, parent training, health and wellness presentations, collaboration with DoD POCs, data entry, and supervision

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree from an accredited graduate program in a mental health field.
• Valid unrestricted independent counseling license from a state that allows independent practice.
• Less than 2 years of post-licensure clinical experience.
• Ability to engage with military members and their families.
• US Citizenship and fluency in English.
• Ability to pass background checks (NACI, IRC, FBI fingerprints).
• Valid driver's license and capacity to work on military installations and schools.

Responsibilities

• Provide non-medical, short-term counseling to eligible children and youth of service members.
• Offer parent training and guidance, and health/wellness presentations.
• Enter counselor activity data daily via smartphone or web app, maintaining confidentiality.
• Develop and maintain community resource linkages for children and youth.
• Collaborate with installation POC to address needs of the installation and schools.
• Participate in supervision, training, and program activities as directed.
