Job summary

Magellan Health, Inc. is seeking a Military and Family Life School Counselor to provide non-medical, short-term counseling to children of military service members at DoD/DoDEA schools and related programs.

The role requires an independently licensed behavioral health clinician with a Master’s degree in a mental health field, ready to assess, plan, and coordinate referrals while maintaining confidentiality and collaborating with installation points of contact.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree from an accredited Graduate Program in a Mental Health related field.
• Valid unrestricted independent counseling license from a State, District of Columbia, US Territory or Commonwealth that grants authority to provide counseling services as an independent practitioner.
• Less than 2 years of post-licensure clinical experience.
• Demonstrate intermediate-level competencies in technology and software (i.e., Microsoft Suite, Internet navigation, Smartphone/Tablet and application navigation).
• Requires ability to engage and communicate with military members or children as assigned, in order to accomplish job functions, and to respond quickly to emergent situations in any physical location on a military installation and/or within a school setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide the full breadth of CYB counseling services to children and youth of service members.
• Work with DoDEA schools and community schools; support DoD installations and youth programs.
• Provide non-medical, short-term, solution-focused counseling, assessment, and follow-up.
• Enter counselor activity data daily and maintain confidentiality of information.
• Develop partnerships with installation POC and community resources to ensure service delivery within scope.
• Respond to critical incidents and to special requests as directed by POC and program managers.
