Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical and administrative tasks in a school health setting. You will work under the direction of a Provider and/or licensed Nurse, preparing students for examinations, recording vital signs, and performing phlebotomy as needed.

The role emphasizes accurate documentation, collaboration with school personnel, and adherence to safety policies, with on-site duties and part-time hours (FTE 0.7).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant Certificate Program (MA) required.
• BLS training from the American Heart Association required.
• Medical Assistant certification (CMA or RMA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interfaces with patients and families.
• Prepares patients for examination; records vital signs; performs phlebotomy as directed.
• Collects and processes specimens per policy.
• Documents care in the medical record and communicates findings to Providers.
• Performs department-specific duties (e.g., POCT, hearing/vision screenings).
• Maintains clean and stocked exam rooms and supports office tasks as needed.
• Builds positive relationships with students, families, school staff and colleagues.
• Follows safety policies to ensure patient safety.
