Job summary

Fort Mill School District is seeking an Accounting Specialist - Medicaid Billing to ensure accurate, timely school-based Medicaid billing and financial tracking for district revenue. The role supports schools, service providers, and the SCDE on Medicaid matters.

You will review documentation, verify eligibility, submit and reconcile claims, and prepare monthly budget-to-actual reports. Strong Excel skills and knowledge of FERPA/HIPAA are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in accounting, finance, business, or healthcare administration required.
• Minimum of five years of accounting, medical billing, or Medicaid/insurance claims processing.
• Knowledge of CPT/HCPCS codes, NPI, eligibility verification, remittance advice.
• Experience with FERPA/HIPAA confidentiality and Excel (pivot tables, lookups).

Responsibilities

• Manage Medicaid billing for RBHS, SNT, ASD, and telehealth services per SCDE manuals.
• Verify eligibility, enrollment, and consents before billing.
• Submit, track, reconcile claims, and resolve denials timely.
• Prepare budget-to-actual reports and revenue analyses by program and school.
• Maintain records per SCDHHS retention rules and FERPA/HIPAA compliance.
• Coordinate SDAC participation and provider roster maintenance.
