Job summary

Western Tidewater Community Service Board in Virginia is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician for the School Intervention Program. This full-time role supports students with behavioral challenges within a school setting.

Requires an Associate’s degree in human services and First Aid/CPR within 30 days of hire; experience with children is preferred. Responsibilities include implementing interventions, documenting progress, and collaborating with educators and families.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in human services required.
• First Aid/CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Crisis intervention training preferred.
• At least one year of experience with children/adolescents with behavioral challenges.
• School-based or mental health experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implement individualized behavioral intervention plans under supervision.
• Provide direct support to students to promote self-control and social skills.
• Utilize evidence-based behavioral management strategies in classroom settings.
• Document daily progress notes and maintain service records.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and counselors to integrate support.
• Assist with crisis intervention, de-escalation, and safety planning.
• Participate in IEP meetings and treatment team conferences.
• Support skill-building activities including coping and problem-solving.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Engage in required training to maintain regulatory compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
