Job summary

Winchester Public Schools is seeking a Behavioral Technician for the 2026-2027 school year in Winchester, VA. The paraprofessional supports student-specific behavior management and data collection under supervision of the BCBA and school staff.

Responsibilities include implementing behavior plans, data gathering, reinforcing learning, and supervising students during unstructured times. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and relevant experience; bilingual skills are a plus.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Some experience in working with children - required.
  • Minimum of sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited post-secondary institution or career technical facility; or an Associate's Degree; or successfully completed the ParaPro Assessment.
  • Behavioral training, not limited to certification as a Registered Behavior Technician, is preferred.
  • Bilingual skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implement student-specific behavior management/support plans under the supervision of the BCBA, Principal, and in consultation with the classroom teacher.
  • Assist classroom teacher in gathering data specific to the student-specific goals for assigned students.
  • Work with assigned students to reinforce material introduced by teacher.
  • Assist assigned students with self-regulation during large and small group activities.
  • Provide daily updates on assigned students' progress toward mastery of behavioral goals.
  • Provide redirection to assigned students when behavior effects the student's learning or learning of others.
  • Supervise assigned students during unstructured time such as lunch and recess.
  • Coordinate with school and division teams to support comprehensive behavioral programming.
  • Perform related work as required.
