Job summary

Gersh Autism Academy (AYM, powered by Gersh) seeks an experienced Behavior Technician to join our Long Island City classrooms for students with autism, ages 5-15. This full-time, 12-month position supports academic and behavioral goals in a private school setting.

You will implement IEPs/BIPs, work one-on-one and in groups, and collaborate with a behavior team to foster a structured, supportive learning environment. Ongoing training is provided.

Qualifications

• Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy and flexibility in various situations.
• Willingness to complete RBT coursework and testing within set timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher with IEPs and BIPs for students with autism.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students to promote growth.
• Support student daily tasks: communication, social interaction, self-management.
• Prepare materials and help students during classroom activities and events.
• Document data on student performance and progress toward goals.
• Collaborate with teaching team and behavioral specialists to maintain a positive learning environment.
• Communicate student progress and challenges with staff.
• Participate in daily training sessions with behavioral analysts.
