KIPP Columbus is seeking a dedicated Behavior Assistant with at least 1 year of school-based experience. You will support students under BIPs/IEPs, use de-escalation and positive reinforcement, and collaborate with teachers and behavior teams to maintain a safe, productive learning environment.

The role requires Ohio Educational Aide permit, 10 hours of training in behavior management, and a commitment to ongoing professional development and anti-racist, student-centered practices.

Competenze

• Minimum of 1 year experience as a school-based Behavior Assistant.
• Minimum 10 hours training in behavior management and positive reinforcement strategies.
• Active educational aide permit through the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce.
• Experience with children or adolescents in educational or behavioral settings.

Mansioni

• Assist students in following behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and IEP goals.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students exhibiting challenging behaviors.
• Use reinforcement strategies, de-escalation techniques, and positive behavior supports.
• Implement behavior strategies developed by behavior specialists or school-based teams.
• Monitor and collect data on student behavior and intervention effectiveness.
• Provide support during transitions and group activities.
• Assist teachers in managing classroom behavior and promoting a positive learning environment.
• Model effective behavior management techniques for staff.
• Support the implementation of school-wide behavior management systems.
• Provide immediate support during behavioral crises following safety protocols.
• Document student behavior and progress using provided tools.
• Report observations to behavior specialists, teachers, or administrators.
• Participate in team meetings and training sessions on management techniques.
