Job summary

YMCA of Central New Mexico seeks a School Age Program Coordinator to provide operational leadership for after‑school, day camp, and teen programs across multiple sites in Albuquerque. You will supervise Site Coordinators, ensure licensing compliance, manage staffing, enrollment, and budgets, and drive program quality and growth.

You will translate strategy into site operations, develop frontline leaders, and strengthen systems for consistent high performance across locations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field preferred.
  • Three or more years of progressively responsible experience in school-age childcare, youth development, education, recreation, or a related field preferred.
  • Two or more years of supervisory or leadership experience, including coaching, scheduling, staffing, performance management.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee multiple program locations, projects, or teams.
  • Working knowledge of New Mexico childcare licensing requirements and school-age program operations.
  • Ability to meet licensing, background screening, training, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, financial management, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, retain, coach, and hold staff accountable while fostering a positive team culture.
  • Excellent spoken and written English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED, and required trainings must be completed within 30 days of hire.
  • Willingness to travel regularly between sites, schools, and offices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational oversight for assigned school-year and seasonal program locations, ensuring consistent execution of YMCA standards and procedures.
  • Directly supervise, coach, develop, and evaluate Site Coordinators; set expectations and accountability.
  • Conduct regular site visits, observations, and reviews to assess quality, safety, and overall program effectiveness.
  • Ensure staffing schedules, participant-to-staff ratios, supplies, site readiness, and day-to-day systems are maintained.
  • Identify and resolve operational concerns; escalate significant issues to the Executive Director.
  • Ensure programs meet licensing requirements, safety procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Lead implementation of quality improvement programs to increase star levels.
  • Support curriculum, enrichment, youth engagement, and SEL across sites.
  • Recruit, onboard, and retain qualified staff; develop leadership pipelines.
  • Monitor enrollment, attendance, and family experience; communicate with families and partners.
  • Manage program budgets, payroll, and financial performance; analyze data and adjust plans.
  • Support growth through new program development and community outreach.
