The YMCA of Central New Mexico is seeking a School Age Program Coordinator to lead operations for a portfolio of school-age childcare programs including Before & After School Programs, School Break Programs, Day Camps and Teen Programs. You will supervise Site Coordinators and ensure quality, licensing compliance, staffing and program performance.

You will translate strategy into site-level practice, develop frontline leaders, improve enrollment and growth, and maintain strong family experiences

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience preferred.
  • 3+ years in school-age childcare or youth development.
  • 2+ years of supervisory/leadership experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple locations and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of NM licensing requirements preferred.
  • English proficiency; Spanish bilingual preferred.

Job description

Under the direction of the Executive Director of School-Age Childcare and in accordance with the mission, policies, and principles of the YMCA of Central New Mexico, the School Age Program Coordinator provides operational leadership and management for an assigned portfolio of school-age childcare programs, including Before & After School Programs, School Break Programs, Day Camps, Teen Programs, and future school-age initiatives as assigned.

The Program Coordinator directly supervises Site Coordinators and is accountable for consistent program quality, licensing and regulatory compliance, staffing, enrollment, fiscal performance, risk management, family experience, and operational execution across assigned locations. Site Coordinators are responsible for the day-to-day operation of their individual sites; the Program Coordinator provides direction, coaching, resources, oversight, and accountability to ensure those sites meet YMCA and organizational expectations.

This position translates Association and department strategy into effective site-level operations, develops strong frontline leaders, strengthens systems and consistency across programs, and identifies opportunities to improve quality, enrollment, and sustainable program growth.

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, Recreation, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Three or more years of progressively responsible experience in school-age childcare, youth development, education, recreation, or a related field preferred.
  • Two or more years of supervisory or leadership experience, including responsibility for coaching, scheduling, staffing, performance management, or developing employees strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee multiple program locations, projects, or teams and manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of New Mexico childcare licensing requirements and school-age program operations strongly preferred.
  • Ability to meet and maintain all licensing, background screening, training, and regulatory requirements applicable to the position.
  • Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, financial management, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, retain, coach, and hold staff accountable while fostering a positive and professional team culture.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies, regulations, contracts, standards, and procedures consistently across multiple locations.
  • Ability to analyze enrollment, staffing, budget, and program performance data and take appropriate action.
  • Excellent spoken and written English skills required; English/Spanish bilingual preferred.
    CPR, First Aid, AED, and required Child Abuse Prevention training must be completed within 30 days of hire or within the timeframe required by YMCA policy or licensing standards, and must remain current.
  • Must be willing and able to travel regularly between assigned program sites, schools, community locations, and administrative offices.
