Job summary

Healthy Kids Programs is seeking a School-Age Childcare Assistant Site Director for our Before and After School Programs at Frelinghuysen Elementary School in Newton, NJ for the 2026–2027 school year. The role is part-time and non-exempt, with hours aligned to the school day.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 1–3 years of experience with children, including supervisory exposure. Background checks are required, and employer-paid childcare is a notable benefit.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or early childhood coursework preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, or youth program setting.
• Some experience in a lead or supervisory role preferred.
• Familiarity with before- and after-school program environments a plus.
• Knowledge of state childcare licensing or school-age care regulations helpful but not required.
• Calm, flexible, and resourceful in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to pass required background and fingerprint clearances.

Location: Frelinghuysen Elementary School in Newton, NJ

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour

Schedule: Follows the school calendar

Morning Program: 7:30 - 8:30 am

Afternoon Program: 3:15 - 6:15 pm

Opportunities may be available for morning, afternoon, or both programs.

• Compliance: The site operates in ratio at all times; records are accurate and current; the program is ready for inspection on any given day
• Inventory: The site is well-stocked with the supplies and materials teachers need; nothing runs out mid-week; restocking happens before it becomes a problem
