Job summary

Healthy Kids Programs is seeking a School-Age Childcare Assistant for our Before and After School Programs at Horace W. Porter School in Columbia, CT. The role supports hands-on activities, safety, and positive child development during school hours.

This part-time position emphasizes reliability, teamwork, and effective communication with families, with employer-paid childcare benefits and a schedule aligned to the school day.

Qualifications

• 18 years or older and hold a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience working with kids preferred.
• Health clearance including TB screening per state regulations.
• Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and reliability.
• Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds while engaging with children.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum (fitness, STEAM, academic, art, etc.) and homework completion.
• Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and act as a positive role model for children.
• Observe state guidelines, program policies, and host school policies.
• Support program operations, such as attendance records, registration, and staffing responsibilities.

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a School-Age Childcare Assistant for our Before and After School Programs at Horace W. Porter School for the 2026-2027 school year.

Pay Rate

$16.98 per hour

Schedule

Follows the school calendar

Morning Program: 7:00 - 8:00 am

Afternoon Program: 3:15 - 6:00 pm

Opportunities may be available for morning, afternoon, or both programs.

Job Status

Part-time, non-exempt

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• 18 years or older and hold a High School Diploma or equivalent required
• 1 year of experience working with kids under 13 preferred
• Required health clearance, including TB screening, in accordance with state regulations.
• Must demonstrate a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and reliability.
• Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds while actively engaging with children throughout the day.
