Job summary

Associated Recreation Council (ARC) is hiring a School-Age Care Lead Counselor for after-school programs in Seattle-area community centers. The role focuses on supervising a classroom of children aged 5-12, delivering engaging activities, and maintaining safety and ratios.

This part-time, non-exempt position offers hours up to 23 per week during the school year, with potential summer work. Starting pay is $23.00/hour, with a range to $26.45/hour for additional years of service.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must have a high school diploma or other secondary education.
• Must have a year of prior experience in school-age childcare. Strong preference for experience in a licensed program.
• MMR vaccination record, tuberculosis (TB) testing, MERIT Portable Background Check, and Washington State Food Worker Card are required after being hired as required by the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF). (ARC will assist you through these requirements and pay the fees associated with the TB testing.)

Responsibilities

• Assists and leads in the application of daily curriculum activities with a classroom of children ages 5-12 years old.
• Models appropriate behavior and provides opportunities for social and emotional growth.
• Helps ensure a ratio of 1:10 (staff to children) is maintained as much as possible to ensure that children are safe and always accounted for.
• Collaborates with and supports fellow School-Age Care staff and receives guidance, coaching, and direction from the ARC School-Age Care Director.
• Directly supports the School-Age Care Director in more advanced daily operations with greater responsibilities.
