Job summary

Associated Recreation Council (ARC) is seeking a dynamic School-Age Care Assistant Director for our program serving children ages 5-12 in Seattle, WA. The role focuses on supporting program operations, supervising staff, and helping design engaging activities that foster growth.

The position requires 18+, 35 college credits, youth-development experience, and supervisory experience, with licensing requirements to be met before work begins. Monday–Friday, full-time, with benefits included.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Minimum of 35 college credits.
  • Experience working in youth development, childcare, education, or related field.
  • Minimum of one year of supervisory experience.
  • Must meet or obtain DCYF licensing requirements prior to working in the program.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor program staff, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for children and staff.
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and implementing developmentally appropriate activities and curriculum.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with children, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Help manage scheduling, supplies, and administrative tasks as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing regulations, safety guidelines, and organizational policies.
  • Provide leadership and day-to-day support to staff and participants in the absence of the Director.

  • Primary location is Ravenna-Eckstein Community Center, but the program is delivered out of Wedgwood Elementary School

Position Type - Full-time

Estimated Start Date - As soon as possible

Starting Pay - $25.00/hr.

Full Pay Range - $25.00-$31.25/hr. (employee may earn up to $31.25/hr. with continued employment)

Associated Recreation Council (ARC), in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR), is a community-centered organization dedicated to providing safe, enriching, and stimulating activities that promote social and emotional growth, as well as materials that foster engaged learning and an inclusive environment for school-age children. We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated School-Age Care Assistant Director to join our School-Age Care Program team. This role is ideal for a highly motivated individual with strong leadership and organizational skills who is passionate about creating a positive, enriching environment for children ages 5-12. You will support the overall operation of the program, assist in supervising staff, and play a key role in developing and leading activities that engage and inspire.

SAC Assistant Director Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and mentor program staff, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for children and staff
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and implementing developmentally appropriate activities and curriculum
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with children, families, staff, and community partners
  • Help manage scheduling, supplies, and administrative tasks as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all licensing regulations, safety guidelines, and organizational policies
  • Provide leadership and day-to-day support to staff and participants in the absence or support of the Director
SAC Assistant Director Qualifications:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Have a minimum of 35 college credits
  • Experience working in youth development, childcare, education, or a related field
  • Minimum of one year of supervisory experience
  • Must meet or obtain DCYF licensing requirements prior to working in the program
Schedule:
  • Monday-Friday up to 40 hours per week
  • Schedule subject to change (i.e. split shift) due to program/season and business needs
  • Start date: as soon as possible
