Job summary

Tulsa Community College is seeking a dedicated advisor to support scholarship students in obtaining CDA credentials, certificates, or an associate's degree in Child Development/Early Childhood.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Human and Family Services, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of related experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of coaching and mentoring.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and database/spreadsheet tools.
  • Ability to travel frequently.

Responsibilities

  • Advise the Scholars for Excellence in Child Care caseload and coordinate with program director to meet outcomes.
  • Schedule, document, and complete required technical on-site visits.
  • Provide advisory support with paperwork for scholarships, financial aid, and enrollment.
  • Serve as liaison to scholars, campus personnel, faculty, and community partners.
  • Plan and implement recruitment and retention practices using program best practices.
  • Maintain accurate program records and participant data.
  • Arrange travel and file travel reimbursements.
  • Attend monthly advising department trainings and related events.

Job description

Job Summary

Responsible for advisement, retention support, and technical assistance to scholarship students. Provide assistance to scholarship students in obtaining their CDA Credentials, Certificate of Mastery, and/or associate's degree in Child Development/Early Childhood.

Essential Duties
  • Advise the Scholars for Excellence in Child Care caseload and work with the Child Development Scholarships Program Director to maintain program outcomes.
  • Schedule, document, and complete required technical on-site visits.
  • In coordination with TCC's Academic Advising Team, provide appreciative advising to scholars on caseload. Advising will include assistance with completion of paperwork (scholarship, financial aid, enrollment, filing for graduation, college applications.
  • Provide information to and serve as the liaison to scholars, campus personnel, faculty, and community program partners.
  • Plan, coordinate, and develop strategic recruitment and retention practices using the Scholars for Excellence in Child Care program's best practices.
  • Maintain relevant, accurate, and accessible records on program operations and program participants.
  • Make travel arrangements and file travel reimbursement claims.
  • Attend monthly TCC Academic Advising department and campus specific training sessions, as well as Focus on Friday events when applicable.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Require Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Human and Family Services, or a closely related field. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience.
  • 3 years of related experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of coaching and mentoring.
  • Microsoft Office 365 and other software used to create and maintain databases, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Ability to drive and travel often.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer demonstrated background in Child Development or related field.
  • Familiarity with recruitment, advising, financial aid, grant management, public speaking, and working in the community.
  • Experience in higher education.
