Job summary

Scripps Health in La Jolla is seeking a Scheduling Specialist in the Peripheral Vascular Disease department. The role involves patient registration, scheduling, referrals and authorizations, and ensuring accurate demographics and insurance information.

You will work Monday–Friday, 8AM–5PM, interact with patients, payers and providers, and contribute to a positive patient experience while mentoring staff and supporting department procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience with patient scheduling and registration processes.
• Familiarity with insurance verification and authorizations preferred.
• Excellent communication with patients, payers, and providers.

Responsibilities

• Interact with patients, payers and providers to gather information for accurate registration, assign MRN, scheduling, referrals and authorizations, and collect payments at check-in.
• Respond to billing and payment inquiries as needed.
• Mentor and train staff on departmental procedures.
• Schedule and re-schedule complex procedures and appointments per guidelines with minimal errors.
• Document patient to provider communication, assess urgency, and escalate when needed; manage check-in/check-out and verify demographics/insurance.
• Demonstrate proactive customer service, taking ownership to resolve concerns and involve leadership when necessary.
