Job summary

Mercy Clinic Gastroenterology is seeking a Scheduler/Insurance Specialist responsible for coordinating patient financial services and all aspects of surgery scheduling. This role involves insurance verification, pre-certification, and referrals management while maintaining Mercy Service Standards.

Location at 10012 Kennerly Road, St. Louis, MO, with a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week, typically Mon-Fri from 7:30am-4pm or 8am-4:30pm.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience as a surgery scheduler.
• Epic experience required.
• Medical terminology knowledge.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Schedule all appointments for patients requiring surgery and revise/cancel as necessary.
• Coordinate all aspects of surgery scheduling and referrals management.
• Perform patient benefit assessment, insurance verification, pre-certification and pre-authorization tasks.
• Serve as interdepartmental liaison and uphold Mercy standards.

The Clinic Scheduler/Insurance Specialist is responsible for multiple facets of patient financial account services within the practice; including but not limited to patient benefit assessment, insurance verification, pre-certification, pre-authorizations, pre-determination for services, and referrals management. This individual also coordinates all aspects of surgery scheduling. Schedules all appointments for patients requiring surgery and revises/cancels appointments as necessary. Acts as an interdepartmental liaison and maintains familiarity with scheduling functions. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
