Grace Cottage Hospital in Vermont is seeking a friendly, detail-oriented Patient Communications Specialist to answer phones, triage calls, schedule appointments, and register new patients using our scheduling software.

You will document conversations, coordinate with clinic staff, and help maintain smooth patient flow while delivering excellent customer service in a busy healthcare environment. Proficiency with computers and willingness to learn are essential.

Competenze

• High school graduate or equivalent. Proficient computer skills required.
• Previous experience in a clinical setting and knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
• Experience with scheduling software is preferred.

Qualifications

Education/ Experience: High school graduate or equivalent. Proficient computer skills required. Previous experience working in a clinical setting, knowledge of medical terminology, and/or experience with scheduling software is preferred. Demonstrate the ability to properly use the phone and computer systems, fax machines, photocopies, scanners, printers and other business machinery. Excellent customer service skills.

Maintains a cooperative professional working relationship with staff including but not limited to medical staff, and other departments, as well as outside agencies, community members and our patients.

Essential Functions Of Positions

• Answers incoming calls and routes calls internally in a professional manner.
• Manages calls in a personal, systematic and organized manner.
• Performs registration for new patients and updates registration information for established patients, as well as sending welcome packets to new patients.
• Schedules, reschedules, cancels and verifies patient appointments per Clinic guidelines.
• Responds to customer inquiries and provides general information to callers regarding GCFH services.
• Directs patient to appropriate clinic person based on content of message, identifying and escalating priority issues.
• Works with providers, nursing staff, and other GCFH Department staff to efficiently and effectively address patient needs.
• Accurately documents phone calls and information provided to callers.
• Assesses computerized medication log and processes medication request as needed.
• Consults with the patient's provider or nursing staff as needed.
• Assists with completing administrative tasks generated by supervisor.
• Acts as a customer-service representative, taking appropriate steps to meet the needs of the callers as well as improve relations with referred providers, specialists, agencies, and other in order to ensure quality care to patients.
• Maintains and addresses automated prescription line requests and Scheduling Center voicemails.
• Completes other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.
