Job summary

Beacon Specialized Living in Independence, MO is seeking a Staff Scheduler to coordinate Direct Support Professionals across multiple homes and programs. This full-time role ensures staffing levels meet policy, regulatory, and client needs while working closely with CTMs, PDs, and other teams.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree (preferred) and at least two years of scheduling or supervisory experience in high-volume settings, with strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of supervision and scheduling experience in high-volume environments.
  • Experience scheduling hourly staff; strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of labor laws and healthcare regulations.
  • Must pass background check and have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule DSPs for shifts, trainings, and job shadowing with CTMs and PDs.
  • Resolve scheduling conflicts and create staffing solutions.
  • Support special projects and maintain scheduling data accuracy.
  • Oversee use of Scheduling Application and coordinate across homes.
  • Collaborate with admissions, finance, recruiting, and operations to meet staffing needs.
  • Assist with filling shifts to maintain service levels.

This is a Full-Time position: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm in our Independence, MO office.

Position Summary

The Staff Scheduler is responsible for managing and coordinating the scheduling of Direct Support Professionals (DSP) across designated homes and programs. This role ensures that staffing levels are maintained in accordance with company policies, regulatory standards, and client needs. The Staff Scheduler works closely with Care Team Managers (CTM), Program Directors (PD), and various departments to ensure efficient and effective staffing solutions.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Always be compliant with all company and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Care Team Managers (CTM) and Program Directors (PD) to schedule DSPs for shifts, training, and job shadowing opportunities.
  • Assist in creating staffing solutions and resolve scheduling conflicts or issues as they arise.
  • Provide support for special projects and administrative tasks as needed.
  • Oversee the efficient use of the Scheduling Application to maintain accurate and timely scheduling.
  • Engage with Home Managers and Program Directors to ensure compliance with scheduling standards and client needs.
  • Work closely with admissions, finance, recruiting, and operations teams to ensure staffing needs are met across all homes.
  • Provide support for individual staff needs across the state of Michigan (designated area).
  • Monitor staff allocation to reduce overtime and turnover rates, ensuring cost-effective staffing solutions.
  • Collaborate with executive management to strategize labor and payroll efficiencies.
  • Assist with filling shifts in homes as necessary to maintain service levels.
Education And Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related social science discipline is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of previous operations and/or supervisory experience scheduling hourly employees in high volume environments.
  • Proven experience in scheduling, staffing, or administrative support.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Knowledge of relevant scheduling software and tools.
  • Understanding of labor laws and regulations, particularly in healthcare or similar fields.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Must pass criminal background check.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
  • Proficient in speaking, reading and writing the English language.
  • Approved by state, federal and government entities to work within BSLS programs.
  • Ability to use office equipment, including BSLS information technology systems.
