Job summary

Zipline is hiring an Industrial & Operations Engineer to own factory performance and scale manufacturing operations. You will connect demand, labor, equipment, space, and material flow into an integrated production system.

This hands-on role focuses on on-floor observations, data-driven constraints, and implementing layout, staffing, and process improvements at scale. You’ll analyze bottlenecks, lead time studies, and capacity planning to drive throughput, efficiency, and reduced lead times

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field.
• 3+ years in industrial/manufacturing/operations engineering or similar.
• Strong knowledge of production system design and capacity planning.

Responsibilities

• Own factory-level performance, scalability, and production system design.
• Develop and improve factory layouts and material flow.
• Lead time studies, labor modeling, and line balancing to set production standards.
• Build capacity models translating demand into labor, equipment, and space needs.
• Identify bottlenecks and drive changes to increase throughput and utilization.
• Define WIP, buffer, and rework strategies to protect output.
• Develop operating strategies as products move from prototype to high-rate production.
• Translate targets into factory requirements and scaling plans.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize staffing and automation.
