Weyerhaeuser’s Longview Log Sort/Export Yard is seeking a qualified Log Scaler to join our team. This role is safety-focused, dependable, and committed to supporting an efficient, high-quality operation in a customer-driven export environment.

You will work outdoors in all weather, using handheld computers and scaling equipment, with opportunities to progress to the Master Log Scaler rate after demonstrating competency.

Qualifications

DescriptionWeyerhaeuser’s Longview Log Sort/Export Yard is seeking a qualified Log Scaler to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals who are safety-focused, dependable, and interested in working in a customer-driven, market-focused log export environment. Successful candidates will demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to supporting an efficient, high- quality operation.Weyerhaeuser’s Longview Log Sort/Export Yard is an industry leader in the softwood log export business. Through our fully integrated Western Timberlands supply chain, we provide a stable, long-term flow of high-quality log products to a reliable customer base in Asia.Starting pay is $38.76 per hour. After demonstrating competency and successfully mastering all job responsibilities, employees may be eligible to progress to the Master Log Scaler rate, currently $40.52 per hour. The position includes holiday pay, vacation pay, health and welfare benefits, and 401(k) benefits. A pre-employment physical, drug test, and background check are required. The workforce is represented by the International Association of Machinists (IAM).Key FunctionsPerform log scaling, log grading, and log accountability responsibilities in the yard and at the dock during vessel loadingoperations. This work includes extended periods outdoors in all weather conditions and the use of handheld computers and other scaling equipment.Support a small-crew, flow-to-work operating model by performing a variety of assignments and adapting to changing work priorities as needed.Maintain clean, organized, and prepared workstations to support safe and efficient operations.QualificationsRequirementsHigh school diploma or GED required.Demonstrated commitment to working safely, including strict adherence to log yard safety procedures, taking personal initiative to work safely at all times, supporting the safety of team members, and helping maintain a safe work environment.Knowledge and experience as a log scaler, including familiarity with sorting and grading specifications, species identification, and handheld electronic computer systems. - Strong listening and communication skills, with the ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions.Ability to work effectively in a team environment while contributing to a positive, productive, and safety-focused workplace.Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment at all times and dress appropriately for year-round outdoor work conditions.About WeyerhaeuserWe sustainably manage forests and manufacture products that make the world a better place.
