Job summary

1X is seeking a coatings and materials manufacturing engineer to own the industrialization of advanced materials for next-generation humanoid robots. You will lead scale-up from lab to high-volume production, defining process windows, qualifications, and SOPs to ensure robust manufacturing.

Join a cross-functional team spanning Engineering, Quality, Production, and Supply Chain to drive yield, cost, and reliability, while maintaining a strong safety and documentation culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related engineering field.
• Minimum 3 years in materials, chemical, or coating manufacturing.
• Experience scaling manufacturing processes for coatings, elastomers, polymers, or composites.
• Proven ability to transition materials from R&D to high-volume production.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with data-driven approach.
• Excellent cross-functional communication and project leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own the industrialization of coatings, load-bearing fiber materials, and advanced materials for production robots.
• Lead manufacturing development and scale-up, including equipment selection, line layout, and SOPs.
• Develop and validate repeatable processes with defined qualifications and acceptance criteria.
• Collaborate across Engineering, Quality, Production, and Supply Chain to ensure smooth transitions to production.
• Create documentation systems: specs, procedures, validation, and production records.
