Job summary

Western Milling seeks a weighmaster to ensure accurate weights for incoming and outgoing deliveries at our facility. This temporary role covers a 4–6 month period, with duties including maintaining scale records, coordinating with operations, and assisting with loading/unloading processes.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, strong customer service and communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Weighmaster experience preferred but not required.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions.

Responsibilities

• Weigh and maintain accurate records for all deliveries.
• Secure and maintain a clean scale area for efficient operation.
• Conduct routine checks on scales and documentation.
• Follow FSMA documentation requirements for load information.
• Collect samples for quality analysis of bulk deliveries.
• Coordinate with mixer operator for load manufacturing.
• Direct customers to unloading/loading locations.
• Manage traffic flow with security staff.
• Answer phones and route calls as needed.
• Maintain scalehouse housekeeping and filing of shipping/receiving documents.
• Develop cooperative working relationships and solve problems.

Overview

This position is intended to be temporary in nature, expected to cover a time span of four to six months.

This position ensures accurate weights of incoming/outgoing deliveries in a timely fashion.

Responsibilities

• Weigh and maintain accurate and proper completion of all records.
• Secure and maintain a clean scale area to ensure efficient operation.
• Conduct routine operational and maintenance checks to ensure vehicular scales function adequately
• Demonstrate compliance with Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) to document previous load information from all carriers.
• Collect samples for quality analysis of bulk deliveries into the mill/plant.
• Work with mixer operator to facilitate manufacturing of loads.
• Follow procedures outlined within the California Department of Food and Agriculture
• Prepare and maintain any spreadsheets as needed
• Direct customers to appropriate locations for unloading/loading purposes
• Working with the guard, manage the flow of traffic
• Answer phones and direct calls as required
• Perform general housekeeping when needed to ensure the cleaning of the Scalehouse is being performed properly.
• Sort and file shipping/receiving documents
• Other duties as assigned
• Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time.
• Analyze information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
• Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize organize, and accomplish your work.
• Work any shift and weekends when needed.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED
• Previous weighmaster experience preferred but not required.

Physical Requirments

• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
