Job summary

Sortera Alloys is seeking a Shipping and Receiving Clerk for 1st shift in Lebanon, TN. The role focuses on accurately weighing incoming and outgoing loads, recording data, and serving as the main contact for drivers, customers, and vendors at the scale house.

Responsibilities include operating scale equipment, verifying documents, entering data, and maintaining logs while upholding safety and company policies in a fast-paced industrial setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior scale house, dispatch, logistics, or customer service experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping.
• Good communication skills, comfortable interacting with drivers and vendors.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor-adjacent industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate truck/vehicle scale equipment to weigh incoming and outgoing loads.
• Accurately record gross, tare, and net weights for each transaction.
• Generate and issue weight tickets/receipts to drivers.
• Verify material type, load documentation, and customer/vendor information against system records.
• Enter transaction data into scale software or ERP system.
• Inspect incoming loads for contamination, prohibited materials, or discrepancies and flag issues per company procedure.
• Maintain accurate daily logs and reconcile scale records with accounting/inventory.
• Communicate with drivers regarding yard procedures, safety rules, and traffic flow.
• Perform routine visual checks of scale equipment and report malfunctions.
• Maintain a clean, organized scale house/office area.
• Follow all safety protocols, including PPE requirements and traffic safety around heavy equipment.
• Assist with month-end reporting or audits as needed.
