Job summary

Leavenworth County seeks a Solid Waste Scale Lead to oversee scale operations, manage fee collections and mentor staff at the transfer station. You will handle customer inquiries in person and by phone, supervise daily transactions, and ensure accurate posting of fees to accounts.

Responsibilities include supervising scale attendants, maintaining records, preparing deposits, and coordinating with Accounts Payable.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Experience in retail, general office, or customer service with monetary recordkeeping.
• Knowledge of scale and accounting software; ability to follow safety procedures.
• HHW certification or obtain within one year and recertify annually.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers at the scale and direct traffic to dumping locations.
• Handle monetary transactions and provide receipts accurately.
• Maintain records and prepare daily deposits and balance receipts.
• Post fees to commercial accounts and perform billing/collections.
• Keep the transfer station area organized, clean, and safe.
