Job summary

Southwest Boulder & Stone is seeking a Scale House Yard Assistant for our Fallbrook, CA yard. This full-time role requires handling scale-house operations, inspecting shipments, directing loads, and maintaining paperwork with safety as a priority.

You will support yard activities, coordinate with retail staff, and help ensure accurate receipts and efficient loading. Prior forklift experience and basic computer skills are a plus; weekend rotations apply.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
• 1-year scale/yard experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Perform all required duties for the Fallbrook yard Scale House.
• Inspect products for defects and damages.
• Examine incoming and outgoing shipments.
• Direct incoming shipments to the proper yard locations.
• Print PO paperwork from computer system.
• Direct incoming customers to parking area and retail counter.
• Check, verify customer receipts when exiting yard.
• Contribute ideas on ways to improve yard procedures.
• Print scale tickets for incoming/outbound material loaded.
• Maintain a clean, organized Scale House with safety in mind.
• Verbally direct Yard Assistants via radio for loading execution.
• Log all incoming/outbound shipments daily.
• Coordinate with retail counter for proper paperwork.
• Organize paperwork for order processing.
• Understand products including application, safety and handling.
• Basic knowledge of yard operations.

Scale House Yard Assistant

We are looking for a Scale House Yard Assistant to join our team in Fallbrook, CA

Essential Job Functions:

• Perform all required duties for the Fallbrook yard Scale House
• Inspect products for defects and damages
• Examine incoming and outgoing shipments
• Direct incoming shipments to the proper yard locations
• Print PO paperwork from computer system
• Direct incoming customers to parking area and retail counter
• Check, verify customer receipts when exiting yard
• Contribute ideas on ways to improve or optimize yard procedures
• Print scale tickets for incoming/outbound material loaded
• Maintain a clean, organized Scale House while ensuring good safety practices
• Verbally direct Yard Assistants via radio for execution of loading vehicles
• Log all incoming/outbound shipments daily
• Communicate with retail counter for proper collection note paperwork for customer
• Organize paperwork and properly file for order processing
• Understanding of products, including application, safety and handling
• Basic knowledge of yard operations
• Operate equipment as needed using checklist and safety measures
• Knowledge of safe vehicle weight capacities and proper loading procedures
• Participate in progressive training on current and new product lines
• Complete product knowledge testing

Job Requirements:

• Time management and organizational skills
• Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, both orally and in writing
• Abide by all company safety and hygiene regulations
• Prior forklift experience/certification a plus
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work independently, as well as cooperatively within a team, and across multiple departments
• Learn material within a successful timeline
• Rotational weekends required

Education, Experience and Certifications:

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent
• 1-year prior experience in scale/yard environment preferred
• Basic computer skills required
