Job summary

Performance Contracting Group seeks an entry‑level Mechanical Insulation Estimator for its San Antonio 116 operations in San Antonio, TX. Responsibilities include takeoffs, establishing labor productivity, and pricing with vendors to support proposals.

The role emphasizes understanding market conditions, margin management, and collaboration with project teams. A strong foundation in construction estimation and software proficiency is expected.

Qualifications

• Read, understand and interpret specifications and drawings for PCI's scopes of work.
• Proven ability to establish and maintain customer relationships.

• Ability to read schedules for sequencing and durations of scopes of work.
• Proficient with estimation software such as On-Screen Takeoff, BuzzBID, Quickbid, MIKE.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, BlueBeam Revu, Procore or PlanSwift.

Responsibilities

• Perform quantitative takeoffs on construction projects.

• Solicit subcontractor pricing for non-self-performing work.
• Understand market conditions and use feedback for pricing decisions.
• Assess backlog/risk to establish margins.
• Participate in internal bid reviews with supervision and project teams.
• Support customer alignment objectives and maintain relationships.
• Utilize wage and benefit schedules in estimates.
• Handoff secured projects to Operations team.
• Assist in other duties such as change orders.
• Support other Estimating team for product line collaboration.

Job Description

PCI is seeking an entry‑level Mechanical Insulation Estimator for its PCI San Antonio 116 operations based in San Antonio, TX.

Job responsibilities include:

• Perform quantitative takeoffs on construction projects
• Establish labor productivities for estimate
• Maintain positive relationships with area vendors for competitive material and equipment pricing
• Solicit subcontractor pricing for work done outside of our self‑performing group
• Gain understanding of market conditions and competitive approach through engaging customer feedback on proposal scope clarifications and price.
• Understanding backlog, level or risk for work, and other factors for establishing margin percentages to mitigate risk.
• Involvement in internal bid reviews with supervisors and project teams
• Participate in customer alignment objectives by creating and maintaining positive customer relationships.
• Utilize wage and benefit schedules
• Hand‑off secured projects to the Operations team
• Assist in other duties as assigned such as change orders depending on the project(s)
• Support other members of the Estimating team for product line collaboration

This position is safety sensitive.

Salary range: $75,100-$101,000 annual salary plus non‑guaranteed annualized bonus program.

Basic Requirements

• Strong ability to read, understand and interpret specifications and drawings for PCI's scopes of work.
• Strong record of establishing and maintaining customer relationships.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• High level of attention to detail and cost analysis.
• Proactive and self‑motivated
• Ability to accurately read schedules for sequencing and durations of applicable scopes of work.
• Proficiency with computer takeoff & estimating software such as On‑Screen Takeoff, BuzzBID, Quickbid, and/or MIKE.
• Proficient skills in Microsoft Office, BlueBeam Revu, Procore, or PlanSwift.

Preferred Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, or related discipline
• At least 2-4 years of experience estimating construction projects is preferred
• Experience with estimating/project management/managing HVAC pipe and duct insulation scopes of construction is preferred
• Local to San Antonio metro area
