Job summary

Performance Contracting seeks an experienced Estimator for its Philadelphia, PA operations based in Exton, PA, responsible for estimating PCI scopes of work and performing quantitative takeoffs for bids on commercial projects. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of estimating experience with strong cost analysis skills and the ability to read specifications and drawings.

Proficiency with On-Screen Takeoff, Quick Bid, PlanSwift, and Bluebeam Revu is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of estimating construction projects.
  • Experience estimating or managing specialty scopes of construction.
  • Read, understand, and interpret specs and drawings for PCI’s scopes.
  • History of establishing and maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Attention to detail and cost analysis skills.
  • Ability to read project schedules for sequencing and durations.
  • Proficiency with takeoff/estimating software tools listed above.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam Revu, Procore, or PlanSwift.
  • Understanding of estimating techniques and bidding processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quantitative takeoffs on construction projects.
  • Establish labor productivities for estimates.
  • Maintain positive relationships with area vendors for pricing.
  • Solicit subcontractor pricing for work outside our self-perform group.
  • Understand market conditions to establish margin percentages.
  • Involvement in internal bid reviews with supervisors and project teams.
  • Participate in customer alignment objectives and maintain relations.
  • Contract administration for secured projects.
  • Utilize wage and benefit schedules.
  • Handoff secured projects to the Operations team.
  • Assist in change orders and billings as needed.
  • Support estimating team for product line collaboration.

Job Description

Performance Contracting is seeking an experienced Estimator for its Philadelphia, PA #596 operations based in Exton, PA . This individual will be responsible for estimating PCI scopes of work.

Job Responsibilities Include
  • Perform quantitative takeoffs on construction projects
  • Establish labor productivities for estimate
  • Maintain positive relationships with area vendors for competitive material and equipment pricing
  • Solicit subcontractor pricing for work done outside of our self-performing group
  • Understand the market conditions including competitive approach, backlog, level or risk for work, and other factors for establishing margin percentages
  • Involvement in internal bid reviews with supervisors and project teams
  • Participate in customer alignment objectives by creating and maintaining positive customer relations
  • Contract administration for secured projects
  • Utilize wage and benefit schedules
  • Hand off secured projects to the Operations team
  • Assist in other duties as assigned such as change order management or billings depending on the project(s)
  • Support other members of the Estimating team for product line collaboration

Salary range: $110,000 - $120,000 annual salary plus non-guaranteed annualized bonus program.

This position is safety-sensitive.

Basic Requirements
  • Must have at least 2 years’ experience estimating construction projects
  • Experience with estimating or managing specialty scopes of construction
  • Strong ability to read, understand, and interpret specifications and drawings for PCI’s scopes of work, specifications, materials, and methods
  • Has a record of establishing and maintaining strong customer relationships
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills
  • Possess a high level of attention to detail and cost analysis skills
  • Ability to accurately read project schedules to determine sequencing and durations of scopes of work
  • Proficiency with computer takeoff and estimating software such as On-Screen Takeoff and Quick Bid
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products (e.g., Excel, Word), Bluebeam Revu, Procore, or PlanSwift
  • Must have a sharp understanding of estimating techniques and the bidding process
  • Ability to work effectively both in a collaborative team environment and independently
  • Ability to learn new skills by engaging in technical job functions and applying new skills as they’re learned
  • Possess critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
Preferred Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, or related discipline
  • Experience with drywall and framing for commercial interior projects.
  • OSHA certification
  • Experience working with union representatives
  • Local to the greater Philadelphia, PA area.
