Job summary

The City of Dubuque, IA is seeking an Industrial Electrical Technician to install, maintain and repair electrical and electronic control systems including SCADA, instrumentation and HVAC-related components. Qualifications

• An associate's degree or apprenticeship in Industrial Electrical Technology, Instrumentation or computer-related fields with electricity/electronics coursework.
• Arc Flash Hazard Awareness Training completed within six months after appointment.
• Qualified Individual Task Proficiency Training completed within six months after appointment.

Responsibilities

• Installs conduits, wires, pull boxes, switches, motor starters and transformers and other equipment for changes in electrical systems.
• Maintains lighting, power, heating, cooling and related systems.
• Inspects electrical control equipment, meters, panels and instruments.
• Repairs and replaces defective parts in motors, generators, transformers, pumps, switchboards and underground cables.
• Performs preventative maintenance and records results; analyzes electrical control systems.
• Tests and locates faults, repairs breakdowns in circuits and equipment.
• Assists in repair/maintenance of other electrical, automotive and plant equipment.
• Prepares cost estimates and orders materials; interprets instructions and diagrams.
