Job summary

Durham County Government seeks a SCADA Technician to install, maintain and repair SCADA hardware, PLCs, and related control systems at the Triangle Wastewater Treatment Plant and associated systems. You will work under limited supervision, ensuring reliable operation of critical infrastructure in a fast-growing region.

You will troubleshoot electrical distribution, monitor SCADA server, perform preventive maintenance, and train staff in electrical safety.

Qualifications

• High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
• Three (3) year apprenticeship for instrumentation and four (4) years of experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Must obtain NC Biological Wastewater Grade I Operator and Collections Grade I Operator certifications within one year of employment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid State of North Carolina driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and repairs SCADA and PLC equipment control systems and motor control circuits.
• Maintains 480-volt electrical distribution systems and chemical feed systems.
• Enters preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance information into the computerized maintenance management software.
• Leads, trains and assists other plant staff in proper electrical safety procedures.
• Monitors the SCADA server and coordinates with the Utility Supervisor as needed.
