Job summary

Qualus Corporation is seeking a SCADA Engineering Technician to support utility control systems, featuring AVEVA/Wonderware System Platform, and OT/IT integration.

You will work with RTUs, RTACs, and PLCs; test and commission devices; configure historians (AVEVA/OSI PI); and map SCADA points while ensuring NERC CIP-004 compliance. Collaboration with field teams and clients is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience with SCADA systems in utility environments.
• Proficiency with AVEVA/Wonderware products including System Platform and Predictive Analytics.
• Strong networking knowledge and hardware understanding.
• Experience with JavaScript, Visual Basic, or C# programming.
• Familiarity with Modbus, OPC, DNP3, TCP/IP protocols.
• Experience integrating SCADA with JSON, REST, or XML sources.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and project management tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex technical work on SCADA systems including RTUs, RTACs, and controllers.
• Maintain and troubleshoot communications equipment like fiber, DWDM, microwave, and routers.
• Collaborate with field technicians and SCADA managers for testing and commissioning.
• Build and map SCADA analog, status, calculation, and virtual points.
• Resolve issues for new device installs, upgrades, and replacements.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and site surveys.
• Integrate SCADA with data sources using Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA/DA.
• Configure historians such as AVEVA and OSI PI.
• Create or modify PLC programs using Structured Text, Ladder Logic, and Function Block Diagrams.
• Design and update SCADA/HMI screens, alarms, and reports.
• Ensure compliance with standards such as NERC CIP-004 (background checks every 7 years).
• Provide training and knowledge transfer to clients.
• Offer UX improvements and efficiency enhancements for automation solutions.
• Manage multiple project priorities and deliver on time.
