Job summary

Qualus is seeking a SCADA Engineering Technician to support utility control systems with advanced SCADA technologies, ensuring reliability of critical infrastructure. The role emphasizes collaboration with field techs, engineers, and managers to test, commission, and optimize devices and data flows.

You will configure, troubleshoot, and map SCADA points, integrate with data sources and protocols, and develop documentation. A strong background in AVEVA/Wonderware and PLC programming is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of SCADA experience in utility environments.
• Proficiency with AVEVA/Wonderware products.
• Strong networking knowledge and hardware understanding.
• Experience programming in JavaScript and/or C#.
• Familiarity with Modbus, DNP3, and OPC protocols.
• Experience with AVEVA or OSI PI historians.
• Ability to work on multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex technical work on SCADA systems (RTUs, RTACs, controllers).
• Maintain and troubleshoot communication gear (fiber, MUX, DWDM, etc.).
• Collaborate with field techs, automation engineers, and SCADA managers for testing.
• Map analog, status, calculation, and virtual points.
• Resolve issues for new device installations and upgrades.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation (circuit maps, site surveys).
• Integrate SCADA with Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA/DA.
• Configure OSI PI/AVEVA historians.
• Create/modify PLC programs (Structured Text, Ladder, FBD).
• Design and update SCADA/HMI screens, alarms, reports.
• Ensure compliance with NERC CIP-004 background checks every seven years.
• Provide hands-on training and knowledge transfer to clients.
• Input for automation solutions to improve UX and efficiency.
• Manage multiple project priorities with timely deliverables.
